Using the Library in Online Learning: Library Instruction in Canvas

Our embedded librarian program provides a flexible alternative to traditional classroom instruction. Rather than spending one full class session working with your students, a librarian who embeds in your course will work with you to find ways of integrating smaller-scale library and information literacy instruction at multiple points in your course. 

Embedded librarianship works especially well with online and hybrid courses. Below are some examples of ways we've embedded into online courses: 

• Creating and grading assignments related to library research.
• Developing video tutorials on specific research skills.
• Providing one-on-one research consultations via online chat.
• Monitoring discussion forums for questions about research projects.
