Is my textbook available as an e-book?
Maybe. Reach out to your liaison or Grace Simons, our electronic resources librarian, and we will look into this for you.
Can I share scans of the print materials I had on reserve for my class with my students?
Possibly. You will need to consider how fair use and copyright laws apply to your specific situation. We do not have a copyright expert at Brandel Library, but librarians at other universities have prepared this Public Statement of Library Copyright Specialists: Fair Use & Emergency Remote Teaching & Research.
What online content does the library have that I could use in my courses?
We have subscription access to a lot of online materials, not just scholarly journals but als e-books, magazines, newspapers, documentary films, music, encyclopedias, archival sources, and more. You can browse a complete list of these resources. We have also heard from many vendors and publishers who are making free content available during the pandemic. We are keeping a running list of free content offers.
Can I schedule remote library instruction for my class?
Yes, librarians are always happy to work with you. We will continue to offer in-class instruction that is tailored to your course and one-on-one research consultations for your students. Contact Jayde Rose at jrose2@northpark.edu with any questions.
What options are available for asynchronous online library instruction?
Librarians can create online research guides and video tutorials as needed. We also have subscription access to a library of information literacy tutorials that you are free to use. We can be added in the role of "Librarian" to your Canvas courses to create modules, embed tutorials, comment on assignments, monitor discussion forums, conference with students, or anything else that might be helpful. We're flexible, just let us know what you need. Contact Jayde Rose at jrose2@northpark.edu for more information about any of these options.

Can students study or attend online classes in the library?
Yes! There is limited, socially distanced seating available in the library for students. Our staff is routinely sanitizing study tables and seating. Please look for tables displaying a card with a green check for a clean space to study. Tables displaying a card with a red "x" are waiting to be sanitized. All students are encouraged to bring their own computers as the library is no longer circulating laptops.
