Starting Research: Using Reference Sources
It's always good to start your research with reference books: they can help you to understand the current debates and the past history of your topic. If you're lucky, they'll also suggest the beginning of your bibliography.
- Sage E-reference booksFull-text of many different encyclopedias.
- CredoCredo has the full-text of over 500 reference books.
- CQ ResearcherThis database has solid information about current events. Be sure to use the menu on the left side of the screen to help navigate the long PDFs.

If you have a question and I'm not available, you have two good options for help:
- Call the reference desk at 773-244-5247
- Open up a Help Desk Ticket, using your username and password, and a librarian will respond to your question via email.
