Fast facts to get started

  • Community Area Maps
The city of Chicago has several maps here that show the official boundaries of your neighborhood. Check these out if you're at all uncertain of them.
  • Community Area Map with Zip Codes
This map shows you which zipcodes are mainly found in which areas.

General Searching Tips

Remember that government websites often have goldmines worth of data, but that data can often be very hard to find.  The following tips might be especially helpful:

  • Type Control + F on your keyboard to search within a page of a website or PDF document for a specific phrase, i.e. "Abany Park"
  • Be careful to check out the website menus to see if other information might be helpful for you.  This is especially relevant on the City of Chicago website.
